TeleNetwork is NOT a scam

This blog gets a large amount of traffic from people searching terms like “telenetwork scam” or “is telenetwork legit?” I am here to tell you that teleNetwork is a legitimate company and they are not a scam. How do I know? Well, for one thing, I am a member of several work at home forums such as WAHM.com and WorkPlaceLikeHome.com and there have been people hired at teleNetwork from both of these websites. Secondly, I have done a lot of research on the company and it is 100% legitimate. I have also contacted them to ask if they do indeed hire at home workers and they assured me that they do.
I think much of the skepticism comes from the fact that teleNetwork requires a lot of technical knowledge that many other work at home companies do not. You must realize that this is because teleNetwork is very professional technical company and you would be providing help desk technical support if you were hired. These requirements are fair and if they did not have them, the quality of their service would go down very quickly. If after reading this article, you are ready to apply for teleNetwork and you live in Texas, click here to review the requirements.

Jessica,
My name is Joel Garza and I am the Recruiting Coordinator for the Austin branch of teleNetwork.
I would just like to thank you for the information you are providing. It is understandable that many people would search for those terms as they investigate a potential job lead. We provide DSL helpdesk and are seeking candidates that are able to assist novice computer users with connectivity, security, and E-Mail issues customers tend to experience. Previous helpdesk experience is necessary, so if you understand the environment of the call center we may be a good match for you.
One addition on requirements, we have started considering applicants from different states and the list, along with our requirements, are on our website http://www.telenetwork.com/careers.html.
After hearing a bit of this company i decided to do some research on the company and found this site..
i just submitted and application for this company and also would like to thank your for this.
i was talking to a friend that i haven’t spoken to in about a year and mentioned that i was looking for a job.
he also works there, and from home!
this seems to be a very awesome opportunity for upcoming technical professionals and anyone who has the option to work for this company should take it.
NOT A SCAM!
This place is awful to work at… there is no respect to employees! They will hire anybody because there is constantly people quiting and getting fired. I worked there for 3 months and had to quit because of the stress this job put on me. No… its not a scam but it will be the worst job you have ever had. And as for getting your “monthly” raises…. Don’t count on it. They will do anything and everything to keep you at 8/hr as long as you work there.
Hi Anthony! I appreciate your feedback on this job opportunity. As I have stated in my about me page, I do list jobs that may not be your dream job and in some cases, are just not that great. The main thing to remember is that sometimes you have to take a bad job to get the experience you need to get another job with better pay or a better work environment.
Well, I will add to the comment that Anthony made by the fact that their job postings are misleading then if what he’s said is true. They state that they pay start you somewhere between $8 and $15 based on experience. …but it sounds like the $8/hr is the highest they’d go.
The job postings from TeleNetwork also say *both* of the following: that the job is entry level, yet call center experience is required.
This is not helpful at all, and things such as this may make it seem like a scam. I understand the idea of taking a bad job to get a better job, but I’m trying to get out of a bad job *now* and don’t want to go into a worse job.
I’ve already worked for a scammer once and would rather not deal with it again.
Hi Kaycee,
Thank you for your comment. I just wanted to mention a few things. First of all, “entry level” does not mean “no experience necessary”. It means that you have had 0-2 years of experience in a particular job field. Secondly, I don’t know where you’ve seen a promise of $8-15 per hour but I would venture to say that the higher pay would only be for someone who’s had years of experience in this field and a very good track record with the company.
If you find that this job is not for you, please feel free to look around my website. In addition check back in a few weeks, I will be listing more jobs very soon. I have thousands to go through to weed out the scams.
I received a call from them today and have years of experience in the industry as well as an abundance of tecnical certifications. 8ph was the highest they were willing to offer. They would not cover hsi costs and expected me to provide much of the equipment at my own expense.
To be perfectly honest, I was offended.
By the way, this is less than half of what I make at a similar company before commission for required sales (which they informed me are part of the job as well) are accounted for.
This is considerably less than most billing representatives at telecomm companies start at.
I have worked for telenetwork for over 7 years and I can tell you that it is a good company to work for. I have health insurance, a retirement plan, and I make well over 8 an hour.
You will most likely start at $8 no matter what experience you have because you will start as a level 1 tech. As you get more experience and take different types of calls, you WILL get raises. Tech support is not for everyone and there is some stress involved, so it may not work out, but don’t be scared off because someone did not like their job.
I WORKED AT TNI (TELENETWORK) OFF AND ON FOR 6 YEARS. IT IS A STABLE JOB BUT YOU HAVE TO PERFORM BASED ON A SCALE TO GET RAISES. IT REALLY DEPENDS ON YOUR TEAM LEADER. THEY START YOU ALL OFF AT 8 AN HOUR BUT THERE ARE CHANCES TO GET AS HIGH AS 11 BEFORE IT STARTS GETTING POLITICAL. IF YOU ARE IN A HURT FOR MONEY AND CAN POWERCYCLE A MODEM GO AHEAD AND APPLY. BUT BEWARE IT TAKES A YEAR FOR BENEFITS AND IF YOU ARE ANYTHING SHORT OF THE TIMEFRAME THAT THEY NEED YOU WILL NOT GET THEM. ENJOY.
I worked for TNI (TeleNetwork Inc) for about 6 months.
Yes, they’re real. But you’ll wish you hadn’t. It’s political at $8/hr. It’s run by a bunch of college kids who do nothing but look for excuses to screw with each other and start drama.
The training material is crap, you’re better off not doing it. Most was written by someone who has no clue how Windows/IP Networks function.
If you just cannot find any other job, sure. It’s something. But get out as fast as you can. There is no such thing as too paranoid there, some IS out to get you and ruin your good name; even at $8/hr.
Doing your actual job is almost a forgotten detail in all the posturing and ego-tripping.
It’s pathetic. No rational, mature adult would work there one second longer than they absolutely had to.
My immediate supervisor was awesome. But the higher-ups are complete crap. If they all got hit by a bus, I’d have a kegger on the ‘accident’ site every year; and I don’t even drink!
Listen to Anthony. He sounds like he’s really worked there. I doubt the other people leaving comments have.
There are benefits; if you’re in upper management. The most important seems to be picking fights with anyone below you.
If you want a real job with sane adults, don’t work there. Bunch of over-privileged brats who just want someone to crap on to make themselves feel better. It’s really sad.
Frankly, you’d do better panhandling or just getting welfare or selling crack. They’re just plain abusive. I have more respect for rapists.
I work for teleNetwork. I have worked there for 3 weeks. I make $8/hr, but for an experienced technician it’s pretty decent, since I work from home. All of my higher ups are good people and I have seen no instances of the so-called “drama” that some people want to say happens there.
I know I am new and don’t have much experience, but the people there really are nice, the training materials arent that bad, and noone I work with has had any problems during their tenures either.
The people here bagging teleNetwork are probably people who have no clue how to work technology, or a call center. They have no idea how to troubleshoot anything, and thats obvious, because working on the scale that they require to get certain raises isn’t hard, AT ALL, and I’ve been there only three weeks.
teleNetwork is a great company to work for , especially if you are under 30, and need to get experience in the technical field doing support. It’s also great for experienced techs like myself, because it isnt hard to learn, the job is easy, and it is NOT stressful. THis is the least stressful job I have ever had, because being a call center at home is so much easier than being at the beck and call of someone in person in some random IT department.
Plus the people from New England that we train on are usually pretty easy to help and get along with.
If anything changes, I will surely post it here, but I don’t see this place ever getting as bad as some of the apparent firees or non-hackers say it is.
Are you still with the company? Have you progressed on to a better hourly salary?
Anyone who has any experience working at a call center can tell you that it takes a special kind of person to take back-to-back phone calls all for the same variety of problems everyday. Mix in rude people, those who refuse to work with you and the impatient and you have a recipe for disaster IF you are not endlessly patient and attuned to how to handle difficult people and situations. I am in the process of looking at accepting a job with this company. I appreciate the feedback I have received thus far, it was helpful in making my decision.
hey, i work from home for tni, it’s ok with me i make 11 an hour i’ve been there 2 years. the training materials aren’t great and some people have no clue what they’re doing but overall its ok. the benefits are ok 2 weeks vacation a year. health, vision, dental offered but over priced. we use my wifes coverage because it was cheaper for her to add me than for me to add myself to tni’s plan. which should tell you something. it seems when i got to 11 an hour i just got stuck because they dont promote people to level 2 a whole lot. the most stressful part of the job is being unable to provide good service to customers that call in because the turn around on a ticket if you have to send out a local tech is 3 days and often is not resolved. so we get yelled at by customers because one of the main companies we contract for over subscribes dsl lines, refuses to invest in the equipment and overpays union workers who have no clue how to work on networks. one tech called me and said he didn’t really know what he was doing because he’s used to telephone only lines.
so there you have it.
its real.
it can be stressful.
you can get raises.
benefits aren’t great and if you dont like getting yelled at by customers then this job is definitley not for you.
I worked there back in 1999. It was a great place to work. After a while you outgrown it, like almost every job. But it is a real company serving some of the country’s largest telecom organizations—and a great place to learn quite a bit about technology.
I applied for TeleNetwork awhile back, but Now I am further into my AAIT/Networking degree and would like to reapply. Does anyone know how long before I can reapply? Thanks all:)
Ok, I posted before. I am the guy saying I was there for 3 weeks. I have now been there for 9 months.
Things have changed a little.
1) I still dont see all the drama people are talking about. The only problem I ever had was when I used a supervisors full name in my notes and he threatened me with bodily harm. It didnt matter much to me because 1, I told MY Boss, Who KICKS ASS. (if you can’t tell, I dig my boss alot). My boss gave him a verbal lashing I’m sure, and 2, because I could probably kick his sissy upper management ass. Either way, thats the ONLY drama I have seen happen.
2) I have seen 2 employees fired, and both times they were serious job breaches or customer mistreats.
3) The job is only stressful because Fairpoint Field Techs are stupid as fuck Union Workers, they never fix shit right, FPNE over subscribes lines, never puts in new equipment and takes DAYS if not WEEKS to get anything fixed on the physical side, all while we sit here and get yelled at for their stupidity.
4) On the brighter side, I know make $10/hr and I’ll likely be making $11 before my first year is up. I have been one of the top 10 Agents at one of the call centers for all 9 months of my employment. I am looking at being the first to do it for an entire consecutive year.
5) All in all, this job does get stale, it is stressful, and as nice as some of the people in New England are, some of them are still retarded as fuck or mean as fuck. Fortunately for me, I have an uncanny ability to just not give a fuck about the customer if they wanna be a dick, so it just rolls off my back.
Aint nothing wrong with teleNetwork as a whole if you just do your damn job and do it well. Yeah, sometimes they ask ridiculous shit of you, but really, it isnt any worse than any other job, and at this one you get to sit in your own home in your damn underwear if you want.
You should read the non disclosure part of your policy handbook before you go posting clients names on the internet.
So here is the truth. Ive been working at Telenetworks (TNI) for about 6 years now. Ive seen it all there. Upper managment is competent, but they have no personality. Its definetly dog-eat-dog environment. I work as one of the One Support Technicians which is the top level. Its easier once you make it to that deparment. Its not hard to succeed at TNI, you just have to know your job better than anyone, and control the urge to tell people off ( both employees and customers; the opportunity will come, trust me, lol).
I will say that TNI has allowed me to gain a vast, and comprehensive knowledge of not only Telecommunications, but also customer service. This knowledge has allowed me to work at better call centers, and now work for company (ALU, look it up) that has worldwide presence.
It may take awhile to get there but you have to think about how this company expanded during one of the most significant economic downturns in history. TNI does good business, which means its stable for the employees there. You will not get rich working at TNI. Sorry. But you can survive on TNI
I now work at home as a OST making decent money.
I just used TNI as a springboard to gain what I want. If I can do it, you can do it.
Telenetwork is a great company. I have been there a little bit over a year now, I have worked for 4 other companies at home and this is the best job I have had so far. I actually make about $14/h, and I am not stressed at all at my other job, I worked for Plumchoice which contracts to ATT, and made more money but I was stressed as hell. This job allows you to change your schedule and they are very flexible. Most of the team leaders I have had, have been very great. I started making $8/h, they are a few other techs who make more than I do, Level 2 and Level 3 and different skill sets. It is true on an earlier comment about the health insurance being a bit pricey, to add my wife and kid it will cost $900+ a month, so for now we will have to research maybe private insurance. But for all its worth, I can’t strike the hand that feeds me, I been able to finally buy a new car for my wife, can pay my bills on time, and gives me time for my personal business that im trying to run. So if your interested in applying, you can’t go wrong.
